‘Climbing to New Heights Together’
Matthew 5: 1-2

At Sir John Moore Church of England Primary School, our vision is to nurture every child to flourish academically, spiritually and personally within a caring Christian community.

Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, we are committed to developing the whole child through Head, Heart and Hands, enabling pupils, staff and families to grow together as they strive to reach their full potential.

Our Christian Vision in Action

🧠 HEAD — Knowledge and Wisdom

We foster curiosity, reflection and a love of learning so that pupils develop the knowledge and wisdom needed for life. Inspired by Jesus’ growth in wisdom, we encourage children to think deeply, ask questions and pursue both academic and spiritual understanding.

❤️ HEART — Character and Compassion

We nurture kindness, empathy and integrity, encouraging pupils to care for one another and their community. Guided by the command to “love one another” and the example of the Good Samaritan, we develop resilient, independent and compassionate young people through our GRIT values.

🤝 HANDS — Service and Action

We believe learning should lead to action. Pupils are encouraged to serve others, contribute positively to society and put their faith into practice through everyday acts of kindness, responsibility and teamwork.

Our Values — GRIT

Growth Mindset • Resilience • Independence • Teamwork

These values underpin our ambition for every child to become confident, capable and caring individuals who are ready for the next stage of their journey.

Our Prayer

Dear God,
Thank you for helping us to climb to new heights together.
Let us use our heads for learning, our hearts for loving and our hands for helping.

Cultural Rucksack

At Sir John Moore C.E. Primary School, every child carries a cultural backpack with them on their learning journey. This represents the values, knowledge, and experiences they gather as they “Climb to New Heights Together.”

Our rich curriculum helps pupils understand themselves and the world around them. They learn about British Values—such as democracy, respect, and the rule of law—through everyday experiences. Through worship, stories, and discussions about different cultures and faiths, pupils develop empathy, celebrate diversity, and appreciate their own heritage.

The cultural rucksack also includes character‑building experiences that develop resilience, teamwork, and responsibility. Whether taking part in residential trips, visiting places of worship, joining the School Council, supporting charities, or engaging in community projects, pupils learn the importance of service and making a positive difference.

By the time they leave Sir John Moore, each child’s cultural rucksack is filled with the knowledge, character, and skills they need to face new challenges with confidence. With head, heart, and hands, they are ready to climb to new heights in the world beyond.
